I want to give you some peace of mind. It is completely normal for your phone's battery to die quicker and quicker as time goes on.
Why? The reason is simply because batteries are not perfect and only last a certain amount of charge cycles before rapidly deteriorating.
While you cannot stop your phone's battery from worsening, you can monitor the progress. This is possible whether you have a Samsung, Nokia or iPhone.
Checking your battery empowers you to know and plan for battery replacements. That's right, you don't just throw your phone in the bin. A battery replacement is usually under $100 and can make your phone last as good as when you first got it.
Here's a few guides depending on which phone you have:
iPhone iOS Users
1. Go into your Settings
2. Tap "Battery"
3. Tap "Battery Health"
Samsung Users
1. Go into your Settings
2. Tap "Battery & Device Care"
3. Tap "Diagnostics"
4. Select "Battery Status"
The 3 readings are Good, Normal and Weak.
Android Users
Using a dialer, punch in:
*#*#4636#*#*
This should bring up a menu. Simply select "Battery Information" and all the relevant stats are there for you.
Using An App
For phones that don't have that as an option, download an app called "AccuBattery". After a few days with this app monitoring your phone you'll be able to get a good reading on what your battery health is at.
There are also other useful apps such as: Clean Battery, Zen Battery and Battery Doctor. Just to clarify, we are not affiliated with any app.
What Does The Battery % Mean?
When you're looking at the health percentage, you don't have to freak out that it's under 100%. In fact, you don't need to worry unless you're at or under 80%. According to manufacturers like Apple, once it's under 80% it will continue to degrade faster.
